What to Look for while Joining Truck Driving School

Quite often, we get admitted to truck driving schools without evaluating the important considering factors. This blog presents to you the important considerations that you should look for while joining a truck driving school:

  • PRICE:

The first and foremost consideration that needs to be taken into consideration is the price. You will have to make sure the investment that you will be putting in the school is of worth or not! There are many who look for reliable schools based on what price do they charge. Pricing should be a consideration but not the only one! As there are many schools that are relatively cheap but do not offer the correct type of training. Also the large discount offering schools practically are able to get a lot of admissions but with so many pupils, they are unlikely to pay attention individual wise.

  • LOCATION:

The next lookout must be where the school is situated! If it is too far from your home then you will have to spend a lot on the transportation back and forth the school. You might make a plan of driving around the country but find it hard to go to a driving school that is way too far from your hostel or home. It is unlikely that you will find a driving school in your neighborhood! So if the school is reputed and offers expert training then you must opt for it no matter where the location is!

  • THE UNIQUE FACTOR:

Of the many truck driving school of Liverpool, you must look out for that school which separates it from the rest other driving schools. If you are choosing a driving school then you will have to choose the best for yourself. There are several factors that you need to look into:

  • Whether they give special attention to beginners or the first time drivers
  • Whether they offer theoretical and practical lessons and whether they keep keen eyes on the practical lessons by offering active tips and tricks.
  • Whether they offer practical lessons for those who missed it due to genuine reasons.

So the next time that you look out for a truck driving school in Campbelltown then make sure to look out for the reputed and reliable ones. Taking the above considerations is also important. Look for such schools that have been in business since many years. Also ask them about the availability of online classes.

Be Aware of These Mistakes That Can Lead You to Failure in Passing Your HR License Test

Do you think it’s difficult to pass heavy rigid truck test or HR license test? As rigid trucks weigh over eight tones and comprising a prime mover and a semi-trailer, sometimes it’s difficult to gain a license for that for its difficulties over the road. First, boil a lot of sweat and spend money to learn the driving for these vehicles. To pass the licensing test, there are multiple factors included such as keeping track of the speed, lane disciplines and traffic lights rules. The feeling of nervousness and anxiety in the driving day is normal.  If you are feeling anxious, you might commit mistakes on the test day. Avoid insignificant mistakes on the test day, if you want to be the perfectionist.

Avoid tailgating:

You are not in driving race, keep that on your mind. If you tailgate and keep merely any distance on the road, then you might get rejected for breaching the rules of the road. Thus, you will be not able to gain HR license in Sydney.

Not using mirrors properly:

When you are driving a heavy vehicle on a busy road, you must use the side and front mirrors to maximise the road safety. When you check the behind vehicle, you signal the driver before crossing the road to check the blind spot for checking a car which is lurking behind. Try to check the mirrors in the interval of every 5-8 seconds. If you are crossing a tunnel, the tendency of the driver would see only the right side mirror, but you must learn the art of practicing seeing left mirror too.

Failing to understand traffic ‘STOP’ sign:

You must avoid speeding. When you consider speeding, you cannot give attention to Pedestrian’s STOP sign. If you don’t stop in the compulsory sign board, the test drive will be an instant failure, as it will reject you from HR license test of Campbelltown.

Not practicing enough:

Driving a Heavy vehicle is not only about reaching the test day and completing it. Practice enough beforehand to be prepared for the actual test drive. The advantage of practicing is that you can monitor the traffic rules, such as when to stop in the red signal and precisely how much time (5 -7 seconds) you can spend to restart the vehicle in the green lights. These are the factors you might keep a check on.

If you are planning to acquire a HR license, make sure you re- check the vehicle condition such as battery, fuel tank filling up, and engine of the vehicle as well as lights.

Everything You Need to Know When Applying for a Truck Driver’s Test

Do you know that Australia is running short of eligible truck drivers and the sharp decline of the industry is said to last through at least the decade? With more and more truck drivers opting for retirement in the industry, and yet more truck freights operating on the road, trucking has become a legitimate niche that can result in sustainable employment in the near future.

Breaking into the industry is a bit daunting as well as time-consuming, but the elbow grease will be well worth the reward of a new secure job.

The Licensing Criteria

Having at least a Light Rigid Driver’s licence is required to be eligible to drive most commercial trucks in the Aussie land. However, if you want to upgrade to the next licence class, you will have to go through the eligibility criteria for each state as they vary widely. In case you are looking to obtain an MR, LR or HR licence in Parramatta, you have to hold at least a P2 licence. In the case of HR licence, you have to hold it for at least two years to meet the eligibility criteria. To upgrade to an HC licence, you need to maintain an MR or HR clearance for at least a year.

The bottom line is that the process is time-consuming and it will take at least four years to climb up the licensing ladder, from having none to a professional HC licence.

Types of Licence

The difference in the licence is directly related to the weight that the vehicle can carry as well as the axle numbers.
  • Light Rigid: The GVM bar for LR licence is 8 tonnes, and the towed truck must not weigh more than GVM 9 tonnes.
  • Medium Rigid: The GVM is not specified, but you can only drive two-axle trucks. Moreover, you will not be allowed to tow a vehicle weighing more than 9 tonnes.
  • Heavy Rigid: Neither GVM restriction nor limitation of axles, but the towing limit is still 9 tonnes.
  • Heavy Combination: The only limitation on this level is you can’t tow more than one vehicle at a time.
  • Multi Combination: This licence gives you the freedom of free operation on the road.

There are over 500 schools enlisted in the ADTA (Australian Driver Trainer Association) and finding one in your proximity is not a problem. Moreover, it is not difficult to obtain a truck licence in Parramatta, given you meet all the necessary criteria beforehand. You will have to go through three tests.
  • A theory test that assesses your general truck-driving knowledge.
  • A road and maritime driving test that assesses your practical driving knowledge. If you already have a licence which you’re upgrading, you need to undertake HVCBA.
  • An eye test which is the highlight of a thorough medical examination, to ensure you are fit enough to be on the road.
A driving school will come to rescue by training as well as assessing your driving skills, except if you are in NSW. If you are opting for a private instructor in place of a school, you will have to spend a significant amount of hard cash. Now that you know all the necessary things that you need to obtain your truck driving licence, we wish you all the luck to ace the tests.
